MOP Monday - giving up on giveaways?

Third week in my giveaway and only 1 link submitted.
I am reconsidering doing giveaways in the future... but for now, the little participation means that your chances to win are much higher now...

These are the rules:
- to participate in the giveaway you have to link a post of your blog on my MOP Monday linky party (at the end of this post) OR send me an email with your block (see later for details)
- each link added will give you one entry
- if you share one of the blocks designed by me, you get 2 entries!! and if the block is one of the untested ones, you get 3 entries!! :)
- if you want to share one of my blocks and you don't have a blog, you can send me an email and I will add the link to the linky party for you. My email is in all my patterns!
- if you guess which city is the one depicted in the placemat on the background of the giveaway image I will add an extra bonus fat quarter ;) just write it in the comment below or send me an email (note: I will not publish the comments with the answers to avoid helping others ;) )
- links must be "new" (any date after Aug 15th is fine)
- the standard MOP Monday opening/closing time applies (the collection usually opens on Sat or Sun and is open until next Tue 12:05 pm EST)
- the giveaway will be running for 4 MOP Mondays and the winner will be announced around Sep 10
- I reserve the right to delete non-relevant links and/or exclude them from the count in the giveaway
- following my blog and commenting on other links is not required, but is greatly appreciated!!
- the giveaway is open to everyone, international entries are welcome (as well as US ones)!!

I was very excited and I started sewing the sashing on and I run out of fabric!! Can you believe it?? I run short of 4 inches... 4 inches more and I would have been able to complete the sashing... now I need to go back to the quilt shop, so this project is on hold :(
--
And this week I thought I could finish another of my Donald Duck's friends block but as you can see below, my little helper decided that I needed to give her the attention that I was giving to the fabric ;)

But even if I don't have a new tested pattern for my Mickey&Donald series, I have a new tested block from my Alice quilt, thanks to a wonderful tested (Lolly S). Thanks for sharing your great block!! :)

The pattern is available in my "MickeyM, DonalD, Alice" page

And finally, a new block for my SK project!! :) I am super happy about all of them!!
As usual I will also share this design through Summer of Stitches (on Fandom in Stitches) for the theme "I <3 books"... again another great opening line :)

A big show off! :)

About two months ago, I had a "sad" post where I was complaining about the fact that I didn't feel that my effort in putting together the pdf patterns, color them, share them, etc. was worth it...
because I was the only one actually sewing my patterns...
at least that's what I thought...
But I was WRONG :)

Many of you reached out to me after that post and really cheered me up... and shared with me fabulous blocks that you made with my patterns!

So this is a "happy-dance" post that collects all the pictures that has been shared with me in the last couple of months (and one of the pattern is tested, fixed and released in its gigantic beauty ;) )

So without further ado, let's start this wonderful-blocks-parade!!

Betty Boop - pattern designed upon request, and pieced by Sarah

SANY2032SANY2016
Minnie Mouse - not one, but two very cute Minnie blocks, pieced by Lois

Minion (short) - pieced by HerbMyst

Minion (tall) - pieced by Tiffany

Snoopy & Woodstock - pieced by Jan (FB)

Sally, Linus and Lucy - pieced by Jaclyn (Pinterest, Craftsy)

SNOOPY QUILT - a complete QUILT featuring some snoopy fabric and my blocks, pieced by Tabitha

The TowerThe crownThe future king
Archimedes on the hatThe Sugar PotArchimedes upside down
Sword in the Stone - Kysaundra is making another full "Sword in the Stone" quilt... using colors that are from the original movie... aren't those block gorgeous???

and last (but not least)
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland title, pieced by Raven

And thanks to Raven's comments and advice I fixed the pattern and now it is available in Quilt&Stitch-TestAlong.

And as a conclusive word, if you are thinking about testing one of my patterns (or the many more that other FiS designer have), join our new Facebook group. Pattern Designers and potential Pattern Testers! You can see sneak peek of patterns that will be available soon on FiS ;) and you can grab this fun button and put it on your blog ;)

MOP Monday - one top done and much more!!

DISCLAIMER: This is a post with a lot of text and a lot of pictures... but I think it's worthy: 1 quilt-top done, 1 new pattern tested and released and other 3 blocks done...

But first... let me THANK every person that reached out to me after my last "sad" post, where I was wondering if it's worth my time to share my patterns here on my blog (the summary of the post is that I did have a lot of download but very few people used my pattern and some of them didn't contact me to show me their work or they didn't give credit (at least on the picture that I saw) to me or my blog).
After that post, many of you wrote me kind emails telling me that they appreciate my work and they collect my patterns even if they didn't have the time to sew them yet (I am in the same situation, LOL :) ).
So you cheered me up and now I am back with my linky party and my patterns...

But I hope that in the future I will get some personal connections (email, facebook messages, something) if you try my patterns because I share my blocks just for this!! To find friend with the same interest!! :)

Ok, enough bla bla bla, let's get down to the progresses of the last 2 weeks!!

-- MOP: The list --

1. As You Wish - Count Rugen embroidery block done (see below)
2. Celtic Solstice - QUILT TOP DONE!!! (see below)
3. Tea Towel challenge and PPV BOM - PPV block (Ice Cream Bowl), 1 done (see below)
4. Alice in Wonderland quilt - Caterpillar block done (see below)
5. Happy Halloween wall hanging - "Do Bats Eat Cats?" block 2 done (see below)
6. Topolino quilt - next block printed

-- MOP: This week new blocks --
The pattern has been tested and fixed and is now available in the Quilt&Stitch-TestAlong page.

I used this amazing text fabric that I won in a giveaway some time ago... I really like text prints but I didn't know in what project I could use them... and then (since I have a resolution not to buy fabric for a while) I had to go through my stash to find a suitable background for the caterpillar... and I started reading the fabric :) there are words like "1 inch, 3 inch, 6 inch, ..." "queen" "painted" "roses" "joyful"... I mean how can a printed text be more perfect for an Alice in Wonderland block??? and for the Caterpillar in particular??? :)
Thanks Tiffany@sewinsomethin.blogspot.com!!!

--
"Do Bats Eat Cats?" is my second block for the modified version of Melissa's "Star Light, Star Bright" block

Do Bats Eat Cats? (block 2)
--
I also made one of my two blocks for the PPV BOM...
This block looked pretty complicated (and it 6'') so I was tempted to make the modified version which is simpler... but then I told myself "If I don't try, how do I know if I am able to do it?" And I am glad that I choose this version!! It's not hard at all!! just the few rounds from the center are kind of slow because aligning those small pieces is not super-easy, but once you get past those, it's super-easy and super-fast!! It's one single block, no points to match... I am really happy about the final result! Now I need to do another one with the aqua/blue switched... but that's for another week! :)

--
And another reason why I didn't post on the blog last week is that on Thu I got pretty sick (bad cold) that knocked me out until late Monday :( so no energy to do any sewing on the sewing machine... but a lot of time on the couch to do some embroidery ;) so I completed the last embroidery block for The Princess Bride QAL :) I really like this block! It was my first time in doing that small cursive writing... and I think it turned out pretty readable, so I am happy about it! :)

--
And finally... a FINISH (quilt top at least)
This is the wonderful Celtic Solstice by Bonnie Hunter! I did a smaller and modified version... I love how it came together... the colors are so bright (I am not able to capture that in a picture) :)

Celtic Solstice (quilt top) on my design wall

Celtic Solstice (quilt top) on my couch...
just to prove that the previous image is not a computer generated image ;)

I now have big plans for the "back"... I put back between quotes because I don't do quilt backs... I do quilts with two fronts ;) I started designing the back but is not ready yet, it's just a draft on my computer... once the first block is "done" I will share the design and put it up in my MOP list so I can keep track of the progresses... the back will be scrappy & modern, that's the only thing I can tell you for now :)

MOP Monday, Off with your head!!

And here we are for the third week of progress reports!

My initial idea was to have a progress on each of the six projects below each week... that was a little bit too optimistic :) but the second part of my initial plan was to have progresses on each project in a sequential way, in the sense that once a step has been made on one project, before a second step can be made on the same project I need to advance each of the other ones... in this way I am "forcing" myself to make them advance at the same time... no project left behind!! :) And on that I am succeeding... so here they are!

-- MOP: The list --
1. As You Wish - no progress (progress done last week)
2. Celtic Solstice - no progress (progress done last week)
3. Tea Towel challenge and PPV BOM - 3 chevrons blocks added to the tea towel! (see below)
4. Alice in Wonderland quilt - the Queen of Hearts is done! (see below)
5. Happy Halloween wall hanging - done "Do Bats Eat Cats?" block (see below)
6. Topolino quilt - cut pieces of next block (Scrooge McDuck) and selected fabric

-- MOP: This week new blocks --
The Queen of Hearts is ready to get some heads!!
The pattern has been tested and fixed and is now available in the Quilt&Stitch-TestAlong page.

--
I've already shown this last Tue for my Tea Towel Challenge update, but this is the set of three chevron blocks from the Paper Piecing Vintage BOM.
--
And finally, when I saw the new QAL that Melissa @ HappyQuilting is hosting I didn't really like it enough to make a full quilt with the blocks (I am not a big fan of "classic stars"), but suddenly looking at the block I didn't see stars and borders but I saw Cats and Bats! And how could I not make a block that has an Halloween theme merged with an Alice in Wonderland theme???

So I generated a paper piecing version of Melissa block because I needed a smaller version of the block and with different coloring... so here you can see my "Do Bats Eat Cats?" block!!
The inverse ("Do Cats Eat Bats?") is the next on my list for that project ;)
I will link this post in Melissa's link up party even if I don't know if my block will "qualify" for a prize for the QAL since I didn't follow her instructions... but I wanted to share it with the group because I really like that block now that I don't see it as a star ;)
